Will Parents and Children Meet in Paradise?

Will Parents and Children Meet in Paradise?

Question: What do the esteemed scholars of Islam say about this issue: If parents and children enter Paradise, will they meet each other or not?

Answer: Muslim parents and their children will meet in Paradise, even if their ranks differ. For example, if the parents or grandparents are in higher ranks and the deeds of the children do not merit those levels, Allah the Exalted, out of His grace and mercy, will elevate them to those ranks for their happiness.

When Does the Iddah of a Widow Begin?

Question: What do the Islamic scholars say about this issue: My paternal aunt's husband passed away in Saudi Arabia. It took six or seven days to bring his body to Pakistan, after which the burial took place. Does my aunt’s iddah (waiting period) begin from the time of her husband’s death, or from the time of his burial?

Answer: In the mentioned case, your aunt's iddah begins from the moment of her husband’s death. This is because this iddah is connected to the death of the husband, not the burial. Similarly, if a pregnant woman’s husband passes away, and she gives birth to a child before his burial, Sayyidunā Umar رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ ruled that her iddah is complete.

Note: It should be remembered that after a person has passed away, their washing, shrouding, and burial should be done quickly. Delaying it unnecessarily is strictly prohibited.
