Surah Al Fath Ayat 17 Translation Tafseer

Para 26 - حٰمٓ

سورة الفتح

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

48.17

لَیْسَ عَلَى الْاَعْمٰى حَرَجٌ وَّ لَا عَلَى الْاَعْرَجِ حَرَجٌ وَّ لَا عَلَى الْمَرِیْضِ حَرَجٌؕ-وَ مَنْ یُّطِعِ اللّٰهَ وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ یُدْخِلْهُ جَنّٰتٍ تَجْرِیْ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهٰرُۚ-وَ مَنْ یَّتَوَلَّ یُعَذِّبْهُ عَذَابًا اَلِیْمًا۠ ٜ (17)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

There is no blame upon the blind, and there is no blame upon the crippled, and there is no blame upon the sick. [1] And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger, He will make him enter gardens beneath which rivers flow; and whosoever deviates, He will punish him with a painful punishment.

Commentary

When the previous verse was revealed, the disabled and crippled people said: “Dear Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, what will become of us now?” Thereafter, this blessed verse was revealed and it was said: There is no blame upon the blind, and there is no blame upon the crippled, and there is no blame upon the sick for remaining behind during the occurrence of war as their exemption is clear. It is permissible for them to not participate in Jihad as they do not have the strength to attack the enemy or save themselves from attack or retreat. The elderly, the feeble and the sick who have difficulty in walking and moving around are also included within this rule.
