Surah Al Fath Ayat 11 Translation Tafseer

Para 26 - حٰمٓ

سورة الفتح

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

48.11

سَیَقُوْلُ لَكَ الْمُخَلَّفُوْنَ مِنَ الْاَعْرَابِ شَغَلَتْنَاۤ اَمْوَالُنَا وَ اَهْلُوْنَا فَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَنَاۚ-یَقُوْلُوْنَ بِاَلْسِنَتِهِمْ مَّا لَیْسَ فِیْ قُلُوْبِهِمْؕ-قُلْ فَمَنْ یَّمْلِكُ لَكُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ شَیْــٴًـا اِنْ اَرَادَ بِكُمْ ضَرًّا اَوْ اَرَادَ بِكُمْ نَفْعًاؕ-بَلْ كَانَ اللّٰهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ خَبِیْرًا(11)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

Now those who remained behindamong the Bedouin will say to you, [1] “Our wealth and our kin kept us occupied, so seek forgiveness for us.” They will utter with their tongues that which is not in their hearts. Say, “Who has any authority over anything for you against Allah if He wills to harm you or if He wills to benefit you? [2] Rather, Allah is aware of all that you do.

Commentary

When the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم intended to go to Makkah in the year of Hudaybiyyah to perform Umrah, the residents of the nearby towns and villages did not accompany him, claiming that they were busy. In reality, they feared the power of Quraysh and assumed that the Muslims would not return from them safely. With the grace and bounty of Allah Almighty, the matter transpired in complete opposition to their assumption. In this verse, unseen news regarding the excuse of those people was given, which was accurately fulfilled.

Real authority to harm or benefit someone only belongs to Allah Almighty, none can save the one He wants to harm and no one can harm the one He wants to benefit. In the matter of obeying Allah and His Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, we should keep their command in mind. We should not be fearful of worldly benefit or harm.
