Life Is Silently Slipping Away

Book Name:Life Is Silently Slipping Away

from sins—it will be a great loss.

Who Is the Best Person?

It is reported in JāmiꜤ al-Tirmidhī that the final Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  was asked: اَيُّ النَّاسِ خَيْرٌ؟ “Who is the best person?”

He replied:مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ وَحَسُنَ عَمَلُهُ “The one whose life is long and whose deeds are good.”

He was then asked: اَيُّ النَّاسِ شَرٌّ؟ “Who is the worst person?”

He answered: مَنْ طَالَ عُمْرُهُ وَسَاءَ عَمَلُهُ “The one whose life is long and whose deeds are evil.”[1]

!اللہ!اللہ Dear Islamic brothers! Indeed, being granted a new year is a great blessing, but what truly matters are our actions.

A good person is the one whose life is long and whose deeds are good. But if one is granted a new day, week, month, and year, yet their deeds remain evil—if his days were passing in heedlessness before and heedlessness prevails today—such a person is not good; rather, he is in a grave condition.

May Allah Almighty protect us from such deprivation and grant us a long life filled with righteous deeds.

اٰمِیْنْ بِجَاہِ خاتَمِ النَّبِیّٖن صلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہ ِوَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ

Summary of the Speech

In summary, there is profound wisdom in the alternation of day and night, and in the arrival of a new year:

* We have been given an opportunity to rectify the shortcomings of the past
