Book Name:Life Is Silently Slipping Away
will you have? What justification will you present for this heedless and sinful life?
May Allah Almighty have mercy upon us, and grant us the ability to take admonition and heed warnings.
اٰمِیْنْ بِجَاہِ خاتَمِ النَّبِیّٖن صلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہ ِوَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ
(3) The Third Lesson: Gratitude
Dear Islamic brothers! Allah Almighty further states:
اَوْ اَرَادَ شُكُوْرًا(۶۲)
or intends to express gratitude.
This is the third lesson: only the one who takes admonition from the alternation of day and night, and regards it as a blessing, is the one whose heart is filled with the spirit of gratitude. Therefore, we must become grateful servants.
Reflect for a moment: how many people were with us last year but now they are in their graves? Is this not a moment for gratitude, that we are still breathing, we are still alive, the opportunity for repentance remains, and that we can still perform virtuous deeds to please Allah Almighty and attain His closeness? Indeed, this is something to be grateful for.
The Value of a Single Breath in This World
In reality, we fail to recognise the true value of this life. Dātā Ganj Bakhsh ꜤAlī al-Hujwayrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه writes in Kashf al-Maḥjūb that a single breath in this world is better than a thousand breaths in the Hereafter.[1]
Why? Because:
1. Through a single breath, we can repent and have all our sins forgiven.
