initial and final parts of the day to good deeds because both of these times are very blessed and important. Allah Almighty says in the noble Qur’ān:

فَسُبْحٰنَ اللّٰهِ حِیْنَ تُمْسُوْنَ وَ حِیْنَ تُصْبِحُوْنَ(۱۷)

So proclaim the purity of Allah when you enter the morning and when you enter the evening.[1]

In Sūrah ar-RaꜤd, Part 13, Allah Almighty says:

لَهٗ مُعَقِّبٰتٌ مِّنْۢ بَیْنِ یَدَیْهِ وَ مِنْ خَلْفِهٖ یَحْفَظُوْنَهٗ مِنْ اَمْرِ اللّٰهِؕ-

For him there are alternating angels in front of him and behind him, they protect him with the command of Allah.[2]

Under this blessed verse, it is stated in Tafsīr Ṣirāṭ al-Jinān:

According to the majority of exegetes, these angels are the guardian angels of the day and night. They are called 'alternating' because when the angels of the night come, the angels of the day depart, and when the angels of the day come, the angels of the night depart.[3]

This changeover of angels takes place at the time of the Fajr and ꜤAṣr prayers, and those who offer these two prayers gain this benefit: that at the time of the changeover of the angels, they are in a state of prayer. It is narrated by Sayyidunā Abū Hurayrah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ that the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, said:

The angels of the night and day continuously come to you in succession, and they gather at the time of the Fajr and ꜤAṣr prayers. Then those who have been with you ascend, and their Lord asks them (though He knows best about them), “In what state did you leave My servants?” The angels say, “We left them while they were praying, and
