Book Name:Hazrat Ibrahim Ke Waqiyat
O devotees of the Messenger of Allah! Reflect how beautiful and virtuous these days and nights are. A pious deed in these days earns 700-fold reward. Performing an act of righteousness in these days is superior worship. A fast in these days is equal to a year of fasting. Observing worship through the night in these nights is equal to observing worship on the Night of Power.
The beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would observe voluntary fasts
The Mother of the Believers, Lady Ḥafṣah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا narrates, “The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would consistently fast during the first ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah.”[1]
Bear in mind, this refers to the first nine days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah, as the tenth is Eid al-Aḍḥā, and fasting on Eid is impermissible.
We should try our absolute best to perform good deeds. Our master, the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would fast in the first ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. We too should keep voluntary fasts and follow this noble Sunnah. We should offer our prayers diligently and worship Allah Almighty, as it is this that will help us in our graves and on the Day of Judgement. When we die, we will leave everything else behind. This is why we must attempt to maximise our good deeds, as much as possible.
The reward earned for good deeds is multiplied seven hundred-fold during the first ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijjah. Avail of this priceless opportunity, and perform as many good deeds as possible. We ask Allah Almighty to allow us to perform actions which please Him.
