moments. Listen to the following account, take heed, repent from your sins, and live a life full of good deeds.

Drowned in the flood

A man once built his home in a place where floods would occur. When he was told it is a dangerous place and he should move, he replied, “I am aware of this, but its beauty and charm has amazed me.”

It was said to him, “All types of beauty are attached with life, so protect yourself, and do not place yourself in danger.”

The man replied, “I will never leave this.”

One night, a flood came and overtook him whilst he slept, and he drowned.[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                      صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! Wake up from the sleep of heedlessness, develop concern for the Hereafter, and prepare for death before it arrives. If we remain preoccupied with the glamour of the world, and are suddenly afflicted by a deadly illness, become involved in an accident, or our breathing stops unexpectedly, we will die and be unable to do anything besides feel regret.

Remove any complacent thoughts of being young or healthy, and thinking that you have plenty of time left yet to do good deeds when you are older. Remember, death does not only come to a person in old age or sickness, as many young, healthy individuals also suffer sudden deaths which take them to the dark grave. The example of this world is like a temporary place of stay; it is something we must traverse in order to reach our destination.
