The Angel of Death then took his soul.[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                      صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Unique regret

The Proof of Islam, Imam Muhammad al-Ghazālī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه narrates that Shaykh Abū ꜤAlī al-Daqqāq رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said:

There was a great saint of Allah who fell severely ill. I went to visit him and saw his students sitting around him whilst the shaykh was crying. “O Shaykh”, I asked, “Why are you crying over the world?”

“No, I am crying due to missing prayer,” he replied.

“You were an ardent worshipper, so how did you miss any?” I enquired.

He replied, “Whenever I prostrated, I did so with heedlessness. When I lifted my head from prostration, I did so heedlessly, and I am now dying in a state of heedlessness.”.[2]

Empty claims are worthless

Dear Islamic brothers! You have heard of how the righteous servants of Allah Almighty would spend every moment remembering Allah Almighty and were always concerned about the Hereafter. Yet, they deemed their acts of worship and devotion insignificant and would cry in fear of Allah Almighty.

On the other hand, our state is such that we do not even perform any righteous deeds in the first place, and even if we do, we do not feel at ease until we have publicised them.
