The faith of Abū Bakr is like divine revelation

Rabīah b. Kab رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ said:

The Islam of Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ is like divine revelation. When he went on a business trip to Syria, he had a dream which he related to a monk called Baḥīrah. He asked Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ, “Where have you come from?” “I have come from Makkah,” he answered. “Which tribe do you belong to?” asked the monk. Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ replied, “The Quraysh.” The monk then asked about his occupation, and Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ said he was a merchant.

The monk went on to say, “If your dream is truthful, a prophet will emerge from your people. You will be his minister when he is alive, and his successor after his passing.” Sayyidunā Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ kept this a secret, and when the announcement of prophethood was made, he said to Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, “I testify there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and I testify that you are a true Prophet of Allah.” Sayyidunā Abū Bakr رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ later said, “There was no one happier in Makkah than the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم on the day I accepted Islam.”[1]
