recognised him at once, and called out to his people, “O people! This is the man who is mentioned in our books. He will conquer our city.”
The non-Muslims surrendered immediately without a fight, and they handed over Jerusalem to Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ.[1]
Sayyidunā KaꜤb al-Aḥbār رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ was a high-ranking tābiꜤī. When Jerusalem was conquered, he met Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ for the first time and accepted Islam.[2]
On this occasion, Sayyidunā KaꜤb al-Aḥbār رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ mentioned it was written in the Book of Allah Almighty that:
A city in which the Banī Isrāˈīl reside will be conquered by a man who is pious and is compassionate to the Muslims. His outer and inner state will be the same, and his actions and speech will not contradict one another. Everyone will be equal in his eyes, be they his acquaintances or strangers. His companions will fast during the days and spend the nights in worship. They will comfort the grief-stricken.[3]
سُبْحٰنَ اللہ! O devotees of the Companions and Ahl al-Bayt! All of the qualities being described were that of the great caliph:
