Crying at the Death of Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ
Sayyidunā Jibril عَلَیْہِ السَّلَام was once with the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم when Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ was mentioned. Upon this, Sayyidunā Jibril رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ said:
لَيَبْكِيَنَّ الْاِسْلَامُ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوْتِكَ عَلٰى مَوْتِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ
“The Muslims will cry after your passing again upon the passing of ꜤUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb.”[1]
On the day Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ passed away, the foster mother of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Lady Umm Ayman رَضِیَ اللہُ عَنْہا exclaimed:
اَلْيَوْمَ وَهِيَ الْاِسْلَامُ
“Islam has been weakened today.”[2]
Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh b. ꜤAbbās رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ reports:
On the Day of Judgement, when Sayyidunā ꜤUmar رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ is present in the court of Allah Almighty, Islam will say:
يَا رَبِّ هٰذَا عُمَرُ اَعَزَّنِيْ فِيْ دَارِ الدُّنْيَا فَاَعِزْهُ فِيْ عَرَصَاتِ الْقِيَامَةِ
“O Allah Almighty! This is ꜤUmar. He honoured me in the world, so honour him on the plains of Qiyāmah.”
With this, he will be made to wear two robes. The robes will be so fragrant that even if one of them was to be revealed on this
