Dear Islamic brothers! Everyone is well aware of the importance that veiling and covering has in Islam. One point to remember, is that as long as the rules and regulations of veiling were acted upon, Muslim societies made great advancements in every field. However, as soon as the importance of modesty and veiling left the hearts of the Muslims, we found corruption and evil present amongst us. All forms of darkness and evil have begun to overtake us from every direction, with people using their eyes to look at impermissible things, immodesty and nudity becoming commonplace, and people becoming lost in lustful desires. Ultimately, this has pushed our society to the brink of collapse, and it is our responsibility to ensure it does not fall apart. From today’s Bayan, we hope to learn about resolutions for some of these issues, and let us begin by listening to an account, from which we can all learn a profound lesson.

The trap of Satan

Sayyiduna Abd-ur-Rahman bin Ziyad رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states that Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم was once sat in a gathering when Satan then came into the gathering, wearing a large hat of different colours. He approached Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم, placed the colourful hat in front of him, and then said: “O Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم! May peace be upon you.”

Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم asked: “Who are you?”, to which Satan replied: “I am Iblees.” Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم stated: “You are Iblees, may Allah Almighty never give you peace and may He destroy you. Why have you come to me?”

Satan replied by saying: “You have a very high rank in the court of Allah Almighty and are one of His most esteemed Prophets. I have come to give Salam to you for this very reason.”

Sayyiduna Musa عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم then asked: “What is this colourful hat, and why did you wear it?” Satan replied by saying: “This is my trap. I
