Book Name:Andheri Qabar
‘Allamah Jalaluddin Suyuti رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه writes: ‘Ubayd Ibn Umayr رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه has reported that when the grave says to the deceased, ‘If you were obedient to Allah during your life then I shall show mercy to you, and if you were disobedient to Allah during your life then I am your punishment; I am such an abode that the one who entered me pious and obedient shall leave happy, and he who was disobedient and sinful shall leave ruined. (Sharh-us-Sudoor, p. 114)
O devotees of the Beloved Messenger! Consider the time when we will be in our graves. Fear shall overcome us, we will neither leave nor communicate with others; there shall be no escape. What will become of us when we hear the piercing call of the grave?
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
What will happen in the grave?
O devotees of the Beloved Messenger! The Prophet who relates the unseen, the Arabian Messenger صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said: ‘The grave is a garden from the gardens of Paradise, or a ditch from the ditches of Hell.’ (Tirmizi, Bab 26, vol. 4, p. 208, Hadith 2468)
O devotees of the Beloved Messenger! It is noteworthy that if we hear a strange sound at night we become restless. If the electricity fails for a short while and darkness spreads we become anxious. In the darkness of the night we are troubled by the yowling of cats and the barking of dogs; we shiver on seeing scorpions and cockroaches as if it is difficult to breathe. Think, if the aforementioned creatures enter our graves to scare us due to our disobedience then who will we call out to? What will become of us?
‘Allamah Jalaluddin Suyuti رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه has narrated that when a person enters the grave all the things he was afraid of in this world, while not fearing Allah, will come to scare him in his grave. (Sharh-us-Sudoor, p. 112)
