reward as the poor man, even if he gives 10,000 dirhams (silver coins) in charity (Sadaqah). The same is true for all other good deeds. When the representative went back and recited this statement of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to the poor, they said: ‘رَضَیْنَاWe are content. ‘رَضَیْنَاWe are content. (Qoot-ul-Quloob, vol. 1, p. 436; Chirya aur andha sanp, p. 5)

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                 صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic Brothers! We come to know from the aforementioned incident that the King of Madinah, our Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم loved the poor very much and gave them a mindset to adopt a habit of patience instead of complaining about their poverty. After hearing of the three glad tidings the poor will attain from this hadith, one realizes that the poor and needy who are patient upon their poverty are very fortunate.

Which type of poverty is beneficial?

Remember! Not every type of poverty is better, nor is every type of wealth better. Poverty and wealth which deprives the servant of the religion and Shari’ah is not good, whereas poverty which encourages the servant to follow Shari’ah, have Tawakkul (reliance) in Allah Almighty and be self-sufficient, in reality, that poverty is the blessing of Allah Almighty and the will of the Holy Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

*   It is a means of companionship with the blessed Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام and the martyrs in Paradise.

*   It can make one entitled to the shade of the mercies of Allah Almighty.

*   It can make one among the beloved bondsmen of Allah Almighty.

*   It can make it easier for one to avoid sins.

*   It can be a means of earning good deeds.

*   It can be a means of gaining more reward than the wealthy.
