Faizan e Rabi Ul Awwal

Book Name:Faizan e Rabi Ul Awwal

Dear Islamic brothers! Rabi’-ul-Awwal is the third month of the Islamic calendar. This month is a collection of bounties, blessings, mercies and favours of the Merciful Lord. The devotees of the Prophet refer to this month as the month of Mawlid, because it was in this month that the blessed being, whom Allah Almighty sent as a mercy for the worlds, for whose sake the entire universe was adorned, the matchless Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم graced this world. This month received its virtues, bounties and blessings through the birth of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Due to this relevance, in today’s Bayan, we will hear about the virtues and blessings of this blessed month, the accounts of how the pious predecessors رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـه would celebrate Mawlid, the virtuous actions that are carried out in this month, and we will also hear about how we should spend this month. May Allah Almighty grant us the ability to listen to the entire Bayan with good intentions. اٰمین

Reason for being referred to as ‘Rabi’-ul-Awwal’

Dear Islamic brothers! No doubt, the honours that were granted to the month of Rabi’-ul-Awwal were not granted to any other month. Let us listen to the meanings of Rabi’-ul-Awwal:

‘Rabi'’ refers to ‘spring’, i.e. the season between winter and summer is known as ‘Rabi’.’ The Arabs refer to the initial phase of spring as ‘Rabi’-ul-Awwal’. In this season, mushrooms and flowers would begin to grow, and the days in which fruit begins to grow is referred to as ‘Rabi’-ul-Aakhir.’ When the names of the months were kept, the 2 months after ‘Safar’ were named after these 2 seasons as ‘Rabi’-ul-Awwal’ and ‘Rabi’-ul-Aakhir.’ (Lisan-ul-‘Arab, vol. 1, p. 1435, summarised)

Dear Islamic brothers! Undoubtedly, if the Final Prophet of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم did not grace this world, then no Eid would be Eid nor would any night be Shab-e-Bara`at, i.e. the night of salvation. In fact, the splendours of this entire universe were received through the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. The 12th of this blessed month has many virtues and merits, for the Beloved Prophet
