then make an effort to adopt politeness right away, as that person who has a soft heart, gains respect.

Hakeem-ul-Ummat Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Na’eemi رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه states: ‘When Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ showers bounties upon people, He makes their heart soft, they are polite to other people, which then increases their respect further. And when Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ inflicts wrath upon people, He deprives them of a soft and polite heart, they have a hard heart, due to which they are harsh with people.’ (Mirat-ul-Manajeeh, vol. 6, pp. 654)

Remember! Politeness is a very beautiful quality, which causes a person to become merciful, prevents cruelty, stops arrogance and instigates humility. A desolated house can become a beautiful palace due to politeness. In order to adopt politeness, it is necessary for us to soften our hearts because the heart is the king of a human’s body. When this becomes soft, our character will automatically generate the quality of politeness. And how will our hearts become soft? Let’s listen to some points regarding this:

1. Wake up from negligence

If we make a habit of doing Zikr and reciting Durood Shareef all the time, by the blessings of this our hearts will soften. Otherwise, being neglectful from the remembrance of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ could lead to our hearts becoming hard.

Sayyiduna Abdullah Bin Umar رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُمَا narrates that the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated: ‘Other than the remembrance of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ, do not talk too much because talking too much other than doing Zikr of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ is a reason as to why the heart becomes hard and a person with a hard heart remains very far from Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.” (Tirmizi, vol. 4, pp. 184, Hadees 2419)
