Our Pious Predecessors
Jumādā al-Ākhirah is the sixth month of the Islamic year. 122 esteemed Companions, Islamic scholars, and Saints who passed away in this month are briefly mentioned in the Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1438 AH to 1446 AH editions of Monthly Magazine Faizan-e-Madinah. Read about 12 more below:
Noble Companions رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُم
(1) Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh b. Miqdād رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ عَنْهُما was the son of the great Companion who fought in the Battle of Badr, Sayyidunā Miqdād Kindī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, and the cousin of the Merciful Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, Sayyidah ḌubāꜤah bint Zubayr b. ꜤAbd al-Muṭṭalib رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا. He was a Companion of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and a warrior in the path of Allah Almighty. He was martyred in the battle of Jamal in 36 AH.[1]
(2) Sayyidunā ꜤAbd al-Raḥmān b. ꜤUbaydullāh Taymī Qurayshī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ was the brother of the famous Companion from the ꜤAsharah Mubashsharah (the ten companions given glad tidings of Paradise in the world), Sayyidunā Ṭalḥah b. ꜤUbaydullāh رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ. He was martyred alongside his brother in the Battle of Jamal in Jumādā al- Ākhirah, 36 AH.[2]
Blessed Saints رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْهم
(3) Imām al-Awliyāˈ, Sayyidunā Khawājah Qudwat al-Dīn Abū Aḥmad Abdāl Ḥasanī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born into a noble Sayyid family on 26th Ramaḍān 260 AH in Chisht, Herat Province, Afghanistan,. He passed away there in Jumādā al-Ākhirah 355 AH at the age of 95. His blessed shrine is located at his birthplace. He turned towards the path of Taṣawwuf at the age of twenty, attained the spiritual rank of Quṭb, and performed many saintly marvels.[3]
(4) Khāzin al-Raḥmat, Mawlānā Shaykh Muḥammad SaꜤīd Sirhindī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born in ShaꜤbān 1005 AH in Sirhind Sharīf and passed away on 27th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1070 AH or 1071 AH. He was laid to rest beside his noble father, Sayyidunā Shaykh Mujaddid Alf Thānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه. He was a student of his father, a source of guidance for both commoners and the elite, a saint blessed with marvels, and the author of several books.[4]
(5) Pīr-e-Ṭarīqat Muftī ꜤAbd al- ꜤAlī Mastālwī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was a scholar, Mufti, debater, author, and the founder of the esteemed Āstānah ꜤĀliyah Mastāl Sharīf. He was born in Mastāl Sharīf, Islamabad, and passed away on 5th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1332 AH. His shrine is located in Mastāl Sharīf, Islamabad.[5]
(6) Khawājah Khān Muḥammad Taunswī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born in 1334 AH in Taunsa Sharīf and passed away on 6th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1399 AH in Karachi. He was laid to rest in the esteemed Āstānah ꜤĀliyah Pīr Pathān, Taunsa Sharīf, District Dera Ghazi Khan. He was an embodiment of both Shariah and Ṭarīqat, and he resembled Pīr Pathān in appearance. He was the son of Khawājah Muḥammad Ḥāmid Taunswī and was the Sajjādah Nashīn of Āstānah ꜤĀliyah Pīr Paṭhān. He was fond of constructing shrines.[6]
Honourable Islamic Scholars رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـهُ
(7) Shaykh al-Islām, Sayyidunā Imām Qāḍī Abū ꜤĀmir Maḥmūd b. Qāsim Azdī Harawī Muhallabī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه: He was born in 400 AH in Herat, Afghanistan, and passed away on 8th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 487 AH. He was a great ShāfiꜤī jurist, Qāḍī, the Imam of his time, a Muḥaddith and Musnid, a source of guidance for the common people and the elite, and a personification of asceticism, piety, and righteousness.[7]
(8) Shaykh al-Islam, Nāṣir al-Millat wa al-Dīn, Sayyidunā Imām Abū Naṣr Muḥammad bin Sālim Ṭablāwī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born in 866 AH in Markaz Talā, Monufia Governorate, Egypt, and passed away on 10th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 966 AH. He was an eminent scholar and teacher of scholars, a reference for scholars and students, greatly devoted to worship, possessed excellent character, the personification of humility, and adorned with the qualities of the Saints. His notable works include Bidāyat al-Qārī fī Khatm al-Bukhārī and Murshidāt al-Mushtaghilīn fī Aḥkām al-Nūn al-Sākinah wa al-Tanwīn.[8]
(9) Nūr al-Millat wa al-Dīn, Sayyidunā Ibn Ghānim ꜤAlī b. Muḥammad Khazrajī ꜤIbādī Maqdisī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born in Dhū al-QaꜤdah 920 AH in Cairo, Egypt, and passed away there on 18th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1004 AH. He was laid to rest in the Tūrbat Mujāwirīn cemetery beside ꜤAllāmah Sirāj Hindī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه. He was a great scholar, a proof of Islam, a frequent traveller, the Imam of Imams, a genius of his era, author of beneficial books, a sun of sciences and gnosis, a leading researcher and mujaddid of the 10th century AH, and one of the great Ḥanafī scholars. Bughyat al-Murtād li Taṣḥīḥ al-Ḍād is an important book from amongst his 12 works.[9]
(10) Sayyidunā Shaykh Abu al-Najā Sālim b. Muḥammad ꜤIzz al-Dīn Sanhūrī Miṣrī Mālikī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was a great Muḥaddith, Khātimat al-Ḥuffāẓ, Muftī of the Mālikī school, and a master of all sciences and disciplines. His well-known book in Mālikī jurisprudence is Taysīr al-Malik al-Jalīl, commonly known as Mukhtaṣar Khalīl. He was born around 945 AH in Sanhūr al-Madīnah, Kafr al-Shaykh Province, Egypt. He acquired religious knowledge in Cairo and rendered religious services there. He passed away on 3rd Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1015 AH and was laid to rest in the Mujāwirīn graveyard.[10]
(11) Shaykh al-Qurrāˈ, Sayyidunā Imām Shams al-Dīn Muḥammad b. Qāsim Baqarī Shināwī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born in 1014 AH in Dār al-Baqar, Maḥallat al-Kubrā, Gharbiyyah Province, Egypt. He was a memoriser of the noble Quran, an excellent reciter (Qārī), a Shāfi‘ī jurist, and a gifted author. His famous book is Ghunyat al-Ṭālibīn wa Munyat al-Rāghibīn fī Tajwīd al-Qurān al-ꜤAẓīm. He passed away on 14th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1111 AH.[11]
(12) Mawlānā Qāḍī ꜤAbd al-Salām Shamsābādī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was born in 1323 AH in a scholarly family in Shamsābād, Tehsil Hazro, District Attock, and passed away on 8th Jumādā al-Ākhirah 1413 AH. He was laid to rest in the local graveyard. He was a graduate of Dār al-ꜤUlūm Ḥizb al-Aḥnāf Lāhore, a student of the caliph of Imām Aḥmad Razā Khān, a teacher at District Jail Islamabad, adhered to the ways of the pious predecessors, and was devoted to spreading the teachings of Islam.[12]
