Quranic Objectives of the Blessed Advent of Beloved Muṣṭafā صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم (Fourth and Final Part)
Making Islam Prevail Over All Religions
Allah Almighty did not send the noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم for only the Arabs, the Quraysh, or a specific tribe. Rather, his Prophethood is a universal and everlasting message of truth for all of humanity. The Prophethood of the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was not limited to calling people towards faith; it was a complete revolutionary movement aimed at establishing the truth and eradicating falsehood. The noble Quran clearly states this objective:
هُوَ الَّذِیْۤ اَرْسَلَ رَسُوْلَهٗ بِالْهُدٰى وَ دِیْنِ الْحَقِّ لِیُظْهِرَهٗ عَلَى الدِّیْنِ كُلِّهٖۙ-وَ لَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُوْنَ(۳۳)
It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion so that He may cause it to prevail over all religions even if the polytheists disapprove.[1]
This has been mentioned three times in the noble Quran (Al-Tawbah: 33, Al-Ṣaff 9, Al-Fatḥ: 28), and each time, these words emphatically declare that the mission of the noble Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was not only to convey the message of faith, but to ensure the true religion prevails over every false ideology, system, and civilisation.
The true religion is that complete system of life based upon divine revelation, monotheism, justice, piety, servitude to Allah Almighty, morality, lawful and unlawful principles, and the sovereignty of Allah Almighty. In contrast, all other religions, whether they are polytheistic, corrupted, man-made philosophies, or secular systems, fall under the domain of falsehood.
The beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was sent so that Islam may be elevated and dominant over every false belief and system, both within hearts, within societies, and at the global level.
The dominance of Islam was not achieved merely through the sword, but also through knowledge, reason, preaching, character, and the truth. The noble Quran proclaims:
قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ مِّنَ اللّٰهِ نُوْرٌ وَّ كِتٰبٌ مُّبِیْنٌۙ(۱۵) یَّهْدِیْ بِهِ اللّٰهُ مَنِ اتَّبَعَ رِضْوَانَهٗ سُبُلَ السَّلٰمِ
Indeed there has come to you from Allah a light and a clear Book. Through ˹it,˺ Allah guides the one who follows His pleasure to ways of salvation;[2]
The practical manifestation of this mission can be seen throughout the blessed life of the beloved Prophet In Makkah, the struggle was primarily ideological, and he made the message of monotheism prevail. In Madinah, a complete social order was established wherein Islam gained ascendancy in the political, economic, and judicial spheres. After him, the rightly-guided Caliphs established just and peaceful Islamic societies across various regions of the world, where equality and justice prevailed without discrimination of race, colour, or religion. These were all manifestations of the dominance promised in the noble Quran.
Today, the Muslim Ummah must remember that an essential part of the beloved Prophet’s mission is never to bow before falsehood, and to strive for the intellectual, moral, and systemic dominance of Islam. To achieve this, the Ummah must excel in the fields of knowledge and evidence, strengthen itself morally, ethically, and spiritually, and reconnect with the true understanding of the Quran and Sunnah. Only then can it counter the false ideologies and civilisations of the modern age.
Global Conveyance of the Divine Message
Allah Almighty did not send the final Prophet, Sayyidunā Muḥammad al-Muṣṭafā صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم for a particular nation, language, or region. Rather, Allah Almighty made his Prophethood a source of mercy and guidance for all the worlds. This blessed appointment was a magnificent gift to humanity, through which Messengership was lifted from a local sphere to the universal domain, so that Allah’s message could reach every generation, every nation, every era, and every region with complete clarity, justice, and wisdom.
The noble Quran repeatedly affirms that the mission of the noble Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was not confined to the Arabs or the people of Makkah. Instead, his Prophethood extended to all of mankind, as Allah Almighty says:
قُلْ یٰۤاَیُّهَا النَّاسُ اِنِّیْ رَسُوْلُ اللّٰهِ اِلَیْكُمْ جَمِیْعَا
Say, “O people! I am a Messenger of Allah to all of you; (sent by Him)[3]
This declaration not only expresses the vastness of the beloved Prophet’s mission, but also marks the beginning of a new era of Prophethood, one in which divine revelation was no longer restricted to the reformation of a single people, but was sent for the guidance of all nations.
Elaborating further on this universality, Allah Almighty declares:
وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ اِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعٰلَمِیْنَ(۱۰۷)
And We sent you not but as mercy for all the worlds.[4]
This comprehensive verse is a declaration of the universality of the Messenger’s character, message, and mission, which is not just a theory but an expression of a practical invitation and a global system of guidance. The word ‘mercy’ here is not restricted to any specific nation or group, but extends to all of humanity and every creature in existence.
Another dimension of the Prophet’s global mission is that, through his prophethood, Allah Almighty sent complete guidance in the form of Islam, announcing that this religion shall ultimately prevail over all false systems:
هُوَ الَّذِیْۤ اَرْسَلَ رَسُوْلَهٗ بِالْهُدٰى وَ دِیْنِ الْحَقِّ لِیُظْهِرَهٗ عَلَى الدِّیْنِ كُلِّهٖۙ-وَ لَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُوْنَ(۳۳)
It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion so that He may cause it to prevail over all religions even if the polytheists disapprove.[5]
This declaration teaches us that the mission of the Final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was to establish Islam as a practical system; a mission of global leadership and moral reform. The noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم actualised this mission during his lifetime by establishing an Islamic state in Madinah, by sending delegations to various nations, and by declaring humanitarian principles at the Farewell Pilgrimage.
The noble Quran further describes the Prophet’s mission as one that must be conveyed to every human in the world until the Day of Judgement:
وَ اُوْحِیَ اِلَیَّ هٰذَا الْقُرْاٰنُ لِاُنْذِرَكُمْ بِهٖ وَ مَنْۢ بَلَغَؕ
And this Quran was sent to me through revelation so that through it I may instil fear in you and whomsoever it may reach.[6]
Through the words " وَ مَنْۢ بَلَغَ" (and whomsoever it may reach), this verse declares that the Prophetic message and Quranic guidance must remain alive and accessible to every era, every generation, and every human.
In today's era, when civilisational conflict, atheistic philosophy, and spiritual void have engulfed the entire world, the universal purpose of the Prophethood of Sayyidunā Muḥammadصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم reminds us once again to understand the message of the noble Quran and sacred Sunnah, and to revive the mission of conveying it to humanity on a global level. This is the true responsibility of the Ummah, and the universal requirement of the Prophet’s
The Call to Monotheism
The foremost and greatest purpose behind the sending of all noble Prophets عَـلَـيْـهِمُ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّـلَام has always been to rescue humanity from every false deity and all forms of polytheism, inviting them solely to the pure and sincere servitude of the One Allah. Similarly, the central message of the advent of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was this call, proclaimed not only under the shadow of the sacred Ka‘bah but in every valley, every tribe, on every occasion, and at every gathering: "قُولُوا لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللهُ تُفْلِحُوا" ("Say there is no god but Allah, and you will attain success"). These brief words hold a revolutionary message that shook hearts, caused false thrones and crowns to tremble, and guided humanity towards the path of pure servitude.
The noble Prophetصَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم upheld this call on every front, whether it was the rocky environment of Makkah, the bitter streets of Taif, or the peaceful state of Madinah. In every circumstance, his unwavering mission was to bring people to bow before the One true Creator. As a result, the divided society of Arabia, torn by tribal pride and mutual enmity, was united under the servitude of Allah Almighty. Their political, economic, and religious systems were completely transformed, and they were entrusted with the leadership of the world.
The noble Quran has emphasised this purpose of Prophethood in numerous places:
وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَّسُوْلٍ اِلَّا لِیُطَاعَ بِاِذْنِ اللّٰهِؕ
And We sent no Messenger except that he is obeyed with the command of Allah.[7]
They were commanded to worship only Allah—devoting ˹their˺ faith solely to Him[8]
Thus, the Prophet’s call to monotheism was not only a matter of belief; it became a complete way of life, a path of guidance and salvation for every Muslim until the Day of Judgement.
The Quranic objectives behind the coming of the final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم require us to strengthen our faith, purify our souls, and reform our morals and character in accordance with the teachings of the noble Quran and sacred Sunnah. We must spread the light of knowledge and wisdom within our homes, families, circles of friends, and communities. It is our duty to invite others to Allah Almighty with wisdom and beautiful conduct, to strive for the establishment of justice and fairness in society, and to promote moral values. Using modern means of communication and educational institutions, we must convey the true message of Islam to the world, removing misconceptions, clarifying the truth, and distinguishing it from falsehood.
In fulfilling these noble aims in today’s challenging era, Dawat-e-Islami plays a remarkable and vital role. The very foundation of Dawat-e-Islami rests upon the principle of reforming oneself and the people of the world.
