Authentication of Bay’at
Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ said in the Holy Quran:
یَوۡمَ نَدۡعُوۡا کُلَّ اُنَاسٍۭ بِاِمَامِہِمۡ ۚ
The Day when We shall call every group with their leader.
[Kanz-ul-Iman (Translation of Quran)] (Surah Bani Israel, verse 71)
Commenting
on the foregoing blessed verse, a renowned exegetist Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan عَـلَيْهِ رَحْـمَةُ الْـمَنَّان has
stated in Noor-ul-Irfan – an exegesis of the Holy Quran: This shows that one
should follow any pious Imam in the world by following his advices in Shari’ah
and performing Bay’at with him in Tareeqah so that one will be resurrected with
the pious. If anyone does not have a pious Imam, then Satan will be his Imam.
This verse proves Taqleed, Bay’at and discipleship.
In the present era of evils, the phenomenon of disciple is no doubt very vast
but it is also very difficult to distinguish between a capable spiritual guide
and an incapable one. It is sublime grace of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ that He creates His friends in every era
for the reform of the Ummah of His Beloved and Blessed Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ
وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. By virtue of their wisdom and sagacity,
these friends of Allah endeavour to inculcate in people the mindset ‘I must
strive to reform myself and the people of the entire world اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه عَزَّوَجَلَّ.’
