Benefits of Ḥusn al-Ẓann

There are many benefits of Ḥusn al-Ẓann, such as:

1.Due to the blessing of Ḥusn al-Ẓann, a person earns great reward by avoiding evil suspicions.

2.It preserves the honour of a Muslim brother.

3.The one who has Ḥusn al-Ẓann regarding his Islamic brother attains peace of heart, while the one afflicted with the bad habit of evil suspicion lives in inner restlessness.

4.Above all, Ḥusn al-Ẓann earns the pleasure of Allah Almighty and His Beloved صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

Harms of Evil Suspicion

There are many harms of evil suspicion. A few of them are:

1.Expressing suspicion directly to someone can hurt their feelings, and hurting a Muslim's feelings without a valid Islamic reason is forbidden.

2.Expressing it in their absence becomes backbiting, which is forbidden.

3.Bad suspicion leads to spying (tajassus), as the heart does not rest with suspicion but seeks verification, leading a person to pry into others’ faults, which is also forbidden.

4.It causes spiritual diseases such as malice, envy, hatred, and enmity.^[1]

5.People tend to avoid those who constantly harbour bad suspicion, and such individuals become disgraced in the eyes of others.

Dear Islamic brothers! We have learned about the blessings of Ḥusn al-Ẓann, the Qur'anic verses and noble Aḥādīth concerning it, its virtues, and the harms of evil suspicion. In light of all this, we should always maintain a good opinion about our fellow brothers and avoid evil assumptions.
