Book Name:Khwaja Garib Nawaz Aur Neki Ki Dawat
There was an oppressive king who owned a beautiful garden and a fountain of spring water in the outskirts of a city. One day, the saintly shaykh, Muʿīn al-Dīn Chishtī came across it. He performed ghusl with the spring water, offered salah, and then sat to recite the Quran.
After a while, Muʿīn al-Dīn Chishtī heard commotion building as the king arrived, yet he paid no attention to this and continued reciting. When the king entered the garden with a grand procession and saw a pious man dressed in simple clothing sitting next to his fountain, he became deeply enraged.
“Who allowed this man to be here?”, he fumed. Whilst the guards were stricken with fear, Muʿīn al-Dīn Chishtī simply looked at the king. The effect of his gaze was such; the king began to shake before ultimately falling unconscious.
The saint asked for water and sprinkled some on the king’s face to wake him up. When he awoke, he and his servants repented for their past and took an oath of allegiance with Muʿīn al-Dīn al-Chishtī.[1]
