The Tragedy of Karbala is a Life Lesson
O devotees of the Prophet! Without doubt, the events of Karbala are saddening and tragic. Many tragedies have occurred throughout history, and many people faced oppression, but they are no longer remembered today. If the events of Karbala were just another tragedy, it would not be remembered more than 1,382 years on. It is an event that teaches us how to achieve success and advancement in life as well as informing us about the importance of abiding by morals and principles in living a life of honour.
The renowned spiritual guide and leader of Ahl al-Sunnah, Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ has written a booklet called “Bloodshed in Karbala”. This booklet is a response to a letter that was given to the Shaykh by an Islamic brother who explained the difficulties he was facing in inviting people towards goodness. The shaykh replied by describing the terrifying incident of Karbala and how the oppression the martyrs faced was because of their invitation towards goodness. So, whenever you face obstacles, think about the cruelty Imam Ḥusayn رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ and his companions رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُم faced at the hands of Yazīd. اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه You will be inspired to work even harder.
