though Allah Almighty is giving good news of an immense reward to the reciters of the noble Qur’an.
In another place, the reciters of the noble Qur’an are praised in these words:
اَلَّذِیْنَ اٰتَیْنٰهُمُ الْكِتٰبَ یَتْلُوْنَهٗ حَقَّ تِلَاوَتِهٖؕ-اُولٰٓىٕكَ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِهٖؕ-وَ مَنْ یَّكْفُرْ بِهٖ فَاُولٰٓىٕكَ هُمُ الْخٰسِرُوْنَ۠(۱۲۱)
“Those to whom We have given the Book, they recite it as it should be recited; only they have faith in it. And those who deny it, only they are the losers.”[1]
Sayyiduna Qatadah رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ narrates, “In this verse, اُولٰٓىٕكَ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِهٖؕ- (it is they who believe) refers to the Prophet’s companions who believed in the verses of Allah Almighty and attested to them.”[2] We come to know that reciting the Qur’an is a distinguishing quality of the believers.
Regarding this verse, it is stated on page 200 of Tafseer Sirat-ul-Jinan, vol. 1, published by Maktaba-tul-Madinah.
We also learn from this that there are many rights of the Book of Allah. The right of the Qur’an is that it should be revered, loved, recited, understood, believed in, acted upon and conveyed to others.
Similarly, countless virtues of the Qur’an are found in the Hadith. Let us listen to four statements of the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in this regard:
