Book Name:Tilawat e Quran Ki Barkatain
Our pious predecessors رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَالٰی had such a great passion for reciting the Qur’an. They would reflect over each verse and recite the Qur’an with utmost eagerness and enthusiasm. A pious predecessor رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه stated, “I start reciting one Surah and witness such a thing in it that I remain standing until the morning, yet that Surah is not completed.”[1]
It is narrated that another pious predecessor رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه stated, “I do not consider the recitation of a verse which I recite without understanding and attention to be a source of reward.”[2] Sayyiduna Sulayman Darani رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه says, “When I recite a verse of the Qur’an, I spend four or five nights pondering over it. If I do not stop myself pondering over it, I would not find an opportunity for the next verse.”[3]
Amir al-Mu’minin Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ would recite the Qur’an so abundantly that his two copies became used beyond repair. Many companions عَـلَيْهِمُ الرِّضْوَانْ would recite the Qur’an by looking at it, and they did not like for a single day to pass without looking at the noble Qur’an.[4]
O Allah Almighty! For the sake of those who loved the noble Qur’an, make us devotees of the Qur’an too! If only we felt restless without seeing and reciting the noble Qur’an. اٰمِیْن
Dear Islamic brothers, note that reciting the Qur’an is the best worship. The Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has stated, “اَفْضَلُ عِبَادَۃِ اُمَّتِیْ قِراءَۃُ الْقُرْاٰنِ” meaning, my ummah’s greatest worship is to recite the Qur’an.[5] Hence, we should not avoid reciting it. Surely, wisdom is to remain preoccupied in collecting more and more virtues in this world.
