Commenting on the abovementioned Hadith, ‘Allamah Abd al-Ra`uf al-Munawi رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states that the best ta’widh (amulet) is that which utilises a Qur’anic verse. Allah Almighty has stated:

وَ نُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْاٰنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٌ وَّ رَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَۙ

“And We send down in the Qur'an that which is a cure and mercy for the believers.”^[1]

Thus, the noble Qur’an is the cure for the body, heart and soul. If some forms of speech have qualities and benefits, what can one say about the speech of رَبُّ الْعالمین universe’s Sustainer—which is superior to all other speech in the same way that Allah Almighty is superior to His creation? Some verses in the Qur’an are for eradicating specific diseases and calamities, but only certain people are blessed with knowledge of these.^[2]

Dear Islamic brothers, the entire Qur’an is a cure for diseases and alleviates difficulties. Every Surah of the Qur’an has its own excellence and glory that is sufficient to protect life and possessions, bring joy to the heart by removing sorrow and grief and grant relief from illness. Let us listen to some virtues regarding some Surahs of the Qur’an mentioned in the 679-page book ‘Jannati Zaywar’ published by Maktaba-tul-Madinah:

*   Any supplication that is made after reciting Surah Al-Fatihah 100 times will be accepted.

*   Recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah causes Satan to flee from the home.
