From the perspective of knowledge, however, from amongst all of these extremely knowledgeable personalities, Sayyidatuna ‘Aaisha رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهَا possessed a rank like none other. Her intellectual expertise in various fields of knowledge is still discussed worldwide to this day, as well as her mastery in fiqh, concerning matters of Halal and Haram.

With the blessings of the final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, she became a muftia (a legal expert who can issue rulings), an ‘aalima (female Islamic scholar), muhadditha (a specialist in the science of Hadith), and mufassira (commentator of the Quran). These outstanding qualities of hers are known far and wide.  She always kept herself busy in spreading Islamic knowledge, and in essence, she devoted her entire life to serving Islam completely.

Sayyiduna Qaasim رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ has said, “The mother of the believers, Sayyidatuna ‘Aaisha Siddiqa رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهَا had attained the permanent post of Ifta (a position from which Islamic rulings are administered) during her father’s (Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq’s) time as Caliph. She would continue issuing Islamic rulings (fatawa) during the Caliphate of Sayyiduna ‘Umar al-Farooq, then Sayyiduna ‘Usman رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْـهُمَا and after them, till her blessed demise.”[1]

Furthermore, the commentator of Sahih Bukhari, ‘Allamah Badr al-Din ‘Ayni رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه has said, “Sayyidatuna ‘Aaisha رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهَا is regarded amongst those Companions who possessed the most expertise in fiqhi (juristic) rulings. She رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهَا is also one of the 6 blessed Companions who have narrated the most blessed Hadith, as she رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهَا has narrated 2,210 Hadith in total.”[2]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                                            صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Let’s now discuss two narrations about Sayyidatuna ‘Aaisha’s towering knowledge and scholarly excellence, so we may draw blessings from them and develop enthusiasm towards acquiring Islamic knowledge ourselves.

1.   Sayyiduna ‘Urwah رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ has said: “In relation to the Holy Quran, matters of inheritance, Halal and Haram, poetry, Arabic proverbs and knowledge
