صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and the pious predecessors, and spend this night in worship, recitation of the Quran and sending Salat upon the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

Sayyiduna Ali رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ reports that the final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: “‘When the 15th night of Sha’ban comes, do Qiyam (standing for worship) in the night and observe fast during the day. No doubt, Allah reveals a special Divine Manifestation on the sky above the earth from the time of sunset and announces, ‘Is there anyone seeking forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone seeking sustenance so that I may grant him sustenance? Is there anyone afflicted so that I may relieve his affliction? Is there so and so...’ He keeps announcing this until the time of Fajr.”

The Du’a of Sayyiduna Dawood عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم

Sayyiduna Ali رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ would often go out on the 15th night of Sha’baan. On one occasion, he went outside, looked to the sky and said: “On the 15th night of Sha’baan, the Holy Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم looked to the sky and said: ‘On the 15th night of Sha’baan, Sayyiduna Dawood عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام looked to the sky and said: This is the time in which Allah accepts the supplications of the people. Whoever seeks forgiveness will be forgiven, as long as he is not an ushaar [one who charges oppressive rates of tax], a magician, a soothsayer or a musician. Then, he made the following supplication: اَللّٰھُمَّ رَبَّ دَاوٗدَ اغْفِرْ لِمَنْ دَعَاکَ فِیْ ھٰذِہٖ اللَّیْلَۃِ اَوِاسْتَغْفَرَکَ فِیْھَا - ‘O Allah! O Lord of Dawood! Forgive those who supplicate and seek forgiveness from you on this night.’”[1]

Dear Islamic brothers! Look at how merciful Allah is on the 15th night of Sha’baan! The following narration will give us an idea of how blessed we are to have such a generous and merciful Lord, and how much we should seek His forgiveness and mercy on this night.

300 doors of mercy

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah رَضِىَ اللهُ عَنْهُ reports that the final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: “On the night of mid-Sha’baan (the 15th), Jibraeel عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام presented
