Book Name:Hajj Kay Fazail or Is Kay Ahkamaat
And performing Hajj of this House, for the sake of Allah, is (an obligation) upon the people, who have the means to reach it. And whoever disbelieves (i.e. denies Hajj being a pillar of Islam), so Allah is Independent of the entire world.
[Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 04, Surah Aal Imraan, Verse 97)
In the commentary of this verse, it is stated in Khaza’in-ul-Irfan: “In this verse, there is mention of the obligation of Hajj, and its condition is that one has the means. In the Hadith, the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has mentioned its commentary to mean provisions for the journey and transport, i.e. one should have enough food and water that will suffice him for the journey there and back, and this is other than the maintenance for his family and dependants. It is also necessary that the path be safe, for having the means is not established without this. It also makes apparent the displeasure of Allah Almighty, and the ruling of the one who denies a Fard Qat’i (definitive Fard) being a Kafir (disbeliever) is also proven.’
Definition of Hajj, and some rulings of Hajj and Umrah
It is written in Tafseer Siraat-ul-Jinan: ‘Hajj refers to entering Ihram, remaining in Arafat on 9th Zul-Hijjah, and performing Tawaf of the Ka’bah. A specific time is appointed for this, in which these actions are to be performed, and then it will be considered Hajj. Hajj was made Fard in the 9th year of Hijri. Its obligation is definitive (Qati’i), and the one who denies its obligation is a Kafir (disbeliever).’ (Bahar-e-Shari’at, Part 6, vol. 1, pp. 1035-1036)
