These are the Faraaid of Hajj: (1) Ihram (2) Staying at Arafat (3) Tawaf Ziyarat. There are 3 types of Hajj: (1) Ifraad, i.e. Tying the Ihram for Hajj only (2) Tamattu’, i.e. the Ihram for Umrah is tied first, and then after coming out of the Ihram of Umrah, the Ihram for Hajj is tied in the same journey (3) Qiraan, i.e. the Ihram for both, Hajj and Umrah, is tied together; in this type, after the completion of Umrah, the restrictions of Ihram are not lifted, rather, they remain. The details of Umrah are somewhat as follows: In Umrah, one must tie the Ihram, perform Tawaf of the Ka’bah, perform Sa’ee of Safa Marwah, and then shave the hair. فَاِنْ اُحْصِرْتُمْ
Then if you are prevented (from entering Makkah
[Kanz-ul-Iman (translation of Quran)] (Part 02, Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 196)
From this, we learn an important ruling of Hajj, namely, ‘Ihsaar.’ The summary of this verse is as follows:
If you face a hindrance after tying the Ihram of Hajj or Umrah, like fear of an enemy, illness, etc., in such a situation, come out of the Ihram and then it will be Wajib upon you to sacrifice an animal of Qurbani, i.e. a camel, cow or goat, within the boundaries of Haram, and do not shave your head until the animal has been sacrificed.
فَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَّرِیْضًا
Then whoever amongst you is sick
