Sayyidunā Sahl b. Abī Ḥathmah رضی اللہُ عنہما

Sayyidunā Sahl b. Abī Ḥathmah is from among the children who had the honour of being a companion of the final Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Let us read a little about his life and fill our hearts with love for the noble Companions رَضِیَ اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰی عَنْهُم.
Brief introduction
He is the son of Sayyidunā Abī Ḥathmah and Sayyidah Umm al-RabīꜤ.[1] He رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ was born in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah in the 3rd Hijrī year[2], and was around 8 years old when the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم left this world.[3]
Number of narrations
25 Aḥādīth have been narrated from him.[4]
Distribution of Khaybar
In one particular narration, he رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ states that the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم split Khaybar into 2 parts; leaving one half for his own needs, and further splitting the second half into 18 parts, distributing it among the Muslims.[5]
Passing away
He رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ passed away at the age of 47 at the beginning of the 50th year of Hijri, in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah.[6]
May Allah Almighty have mercy upon him and forgive us without accountability for his sake.
