Shaitan kay baaz hathyar | Some attacks of Satan
The Prophet of Raḥmaĥ صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ تَعَالٰى عَـلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم has said, ‘One who performs (good) deeds merely for Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ for forty days, Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ makes the springs of wisdom appear on his tongue from his heart.’ (Attarghīb Wattarĥīb, vol. 1, pp. 24, Ḥadīš 13)
Five
definitions of sincerity
1. To perform the good deed only for the pleasure of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ. It should not be aimed at fulfilling the desire of Nafs or earning the pleasure of people.
2. ‘Allāmaĥ ‘Abdul Ghanī Nābulusī Ḥanafī عَـلَيْهِ رَحْـمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ الۡـقَـوِی has stated: Sincerity is to perform the deed with the mere intention of gaining the closeness of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ without aiming for any worldly benefit. (Al-Ḥadīqa-tun-Nadiyyaĥ, vol. 2, pp. 642)
3. Sayyidunā Ḥużayfaĥ Mar’ashī عَـلَيْهِ رَحْـمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ الۡـقَـوِی has stated: Sincerity is to perform the deed in the same manner whether performed in public or in private. (Al-Majmū’ lin-Nawavī, vol. 1, pp. 17)
4. Sayyidunā Muḥāsibī عَـلَيْهِ رَحْـمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ الۡـقَـوِی has stated: Sincerity is to prevent the creation from being involved in the matter related to the Creator عَزَّوَجَلَّ. (Iḥyā-ul-‘Ulūm, vol. 5, pp. 110)
