Riya kari | Showing Off
using the name of Islam and the Holy Quran and mislead people by wearing cloaks and turbans, are the worst of people.
(Mirāt-ul-Manājīḥ, vol. 7, pp. 133)
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
The consequence of the one who pursued worldly profit through religion
Sayyidunā Mūsā Kalīmullāĥ عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام had a servant, who became very rich and was no longer seen for a long time. Sayyidunā Mūsā عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام enquired about him but he was not found. Then, one day he saw a man with a pig that had a black rope around its neck. Sayyidunā Mūsā عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام asked the man, ‘Do you know so and so?’ He replied, ‘Yes! This pig is that man.’ Sayyidunā Mūsā عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام prayed, ‘O Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ! I ask You to return this man to his former state so that I can ask him what happened.’ Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ sent a revelation to him, ‘Even if you supplicate to me as much as Ādam (عَـلٰى نَبِـيِّـنَا وَ عَـلَيْـهِ الـصَّلٰوة ُ وَالـسَّلَام) or even more, then I will not accept your supplication regarding this man but I tell you that the reason for his condition is that he pursued the world using religion.’ (Iḥyā-ul-‘Ulūm, Kitāb-ul-‘Ilm, vol. 1, pp. 90)
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! Before beginning any good deed, take a long hard look at your heart and ask yourself, ‘Am I doing this for the pleasure of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ or for other people’, and then correct your
