Satan is very close to each of us. The Revered and Renowned Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَـالٰى عَـلَيْهِ وَاٰلـِهٖ وَسَـلَّم has said, ‘Without doubt, Satan circulates in (the body of) man like blood.’
(Sahih Bukhari, vol. 1, pp. 669, Hadees 2038)
Great Sufis رَحِمَهُمُ الـلّٰـهُ تَـعَالٰی have said: Hence block the ways of Satan by means of hunger. (Kashf-ul-Khifa, vol. 1, pp. 198)
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ تَعَالٰى عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
Those who eat too much should ponder how they will get rid of Satan. Hujjat-ul-Islam, Sayyiduna Imam Muhammad Ghazali عَـلَـیۡـهِ رَحْـمَـةُ الـلّٰـهِ الۡـوَالِی has stated: It is narrated that overeating causes six evils:
There is no more Divine fear in the heart.
There is no sympathy with others because those who stuff themselves assume that everyone is like them and hence do not have pity for others.
Worship seems to be a burden.
Softness is not produced in the heart by listening to the pieces of advice and (Sunnah-inspiring) speeches.
