applicable. In fact, if his house is so spacious that one portion suffices for him in summer and winter and the other portion is in excess of his requirements and its value whether alone or when added to other such basic essentials which are more than the requirement, reaches the value of Niṣāb, the Qurbānī will also become Wājib in this case. (Fatāwā Razawiyyaĥ, vol. 20, pp. 361)
The Qurbānī will become Wājib if conditions including the possession of Niṣāb are met within the stipulated days of the Qurbānī (i.e. from Ṣubḥ-e-Ṣādiq of 10th Żul-Ḥijjaĥ till before the sun sets of 12th Żul-Ḥijjaĥ). Explaining this ruling, the renowned Islamic scholar Ṣadr-ush-Sharī’aĥ, Badr-uṭ-Ṭarīqaĥ ‘Allāmaĥ Maulānā Muftī Amjad ‘Alī A’ẓamī عَـلَيْهِ رَحْـمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ الۡـقَـوِی has stated in Baĥār-e-Sharī’at, ‘It is not compulsory to perform the Qurbānī on 10th Żul-Ḥijjaĥ only, one can perform it within the stipulated time at his convenience.
If the conditions of the Qurbānī being Wājib do not exist at the initial time (i.e. Ṣubḥ-e-Ṣādiq of 10th Żul-Ḥijjaĥ) but they are met later on (i.e. before the sunset of 12th Żul-Ḥijjaĥ) then the Qurbānī will become Wājib for him. If conditions exist at the initial time but he does not perform the Qurbānī and conditions are not met at the ending time then Qurbānī will no longer remain Wājib. (‘Ālamgīrī, vol. 5, pp. 293)
