· Bad names should be replaced with a good one. The Prophet of Raḥmaĥ, the Intercessor of Ummaĥ صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم used to change bad names with good ones. (Jāmi’ Tirmiżī, pp. 382, vol. 4, Ḥadiš 2848) There was a woman bearing the name ‘Āṣiyaĥ [عَاصِیَہ], meaning ‘a sinner.’ The Beloved and Blessed Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم changed her name and replaced it with ‘Jamīlaĥ’. (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, pp. 1181, Ḥadiš 2139)
· Such names are prohibited that entail the elements of boastfulness. It is mentioned in Sūraĥ An-Najm, verse number 32:

Therefore, tell not your souls as pure. [Kanz-ul-Īmān (Translation of Quran)] |
فَلَا تُزَکُّـوۡۤا اَنۡفُسَکُمۡ ؕ |
In this context A’lā Ḥaḍrat رَحْمَةُ اللهِ تَعَالٰی عَلَيْه has stated with reference to Fuṣūl-e-‘Imādī that no such name should be used that exposes self distinctions and self-praise. (Fatāwā Razaviyyaĥ, pp. 684, vol. 24)
It is mentioned in Muslim Sharif that the Beloved and Blessed Rasūl صَلَّى اللهُ تَعَالٰى عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replaced the name of a woman ‘Barraĥ’ meaning ‘a pious woman’ with ‘Zaīnab’ and said, ‘Do not project yourself as good. Almighty Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ is well aware that who is pious amongst you.’ (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, pp. 1182, Ḥadiš 2142)
Those names are not allowed that are specific for infidels. It is mentioned in Fatāwā Razaviyyaĥ volume 24, page
