He was the first person to speak eloquent Arabic.[1]
Allah Almighty blessed him with 12 sons, and from them his lineage continued, through which the entire region of Arabia became populated. The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful Lord has mentioned him with praise at several places in the Holy Quran.
In Part 16, Surah Maryam, two verses (verses 54 and 55) describe some of his attributes and excellences. Allah Almighty states:
وَ اذْكُرْ فِی الْكِتٰبِ اِسْمٰعِیْلَ٘-
And remember Ismāʿīl in the Book.[2]
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه! This is the teaching of the Holy Quran! Sometimes people say that you only narrate stories of the Prophets and saints. To such people, it is said:
Mentioning them, reading about their character and conduct, and speaking about them is from the teachings of the Holy Quran. Read Surah Maryam and see how Allah states:
1. “Remember Sayyidunā Idrīs عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم in the Book.”
2. “Remember Sayyidunā Ibrāhīm عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم in the Book.”
3. “Remember Sayyidah Maryam رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا in the Book.”
Who is Sayyidah Maryam رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا? She is the mother of Sayyidunā ꜤĪsā عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم and a highly exalted saintly woman. This shows that mentioning the Prophets and Saints is also an act of worship. Mufti Aḥmad Yār Khān NaꜤīmī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه writes:
The entire Quran is the dhikr (remembrance) of Allah. Read and see how it
