are the Imam of the time and the leader of the people; thousands of people are your disciples."

Imam al-Ghazālī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه replied: "Why do you look at the clothes of a person who stays in this world like a traveller and considers the beauties of this universe as temporary? When the Master of the Universe, the Holy Prophet  صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, lived in this world like a traveller and did not collect any wealth, then what is my worth and reality?"^[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                          صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

O devotees of the Saints! We admire the simplicity of Imam al-Ghazālī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه and his passion for remembering death and the Hereafter. If only we would also become like Imam al-Ghazālīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  and always remember death and the Hereafter.

Let us hear some more about the Mujaddid and Imam of his time, Sayyidunā Imam al-Ghazālī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه:

Mention of Imam al-Ghazālī رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه:

Imam al-Ghazālīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  was a great scholar and a Saint of Allah. The Ꜥurs of Imam al-Ghazālīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  is on the 14th of Jumadā al-Ukhrā. His kunyah is Abū Ḥāmid, and his title is Hujjat-ul-Islam (The Proof of Islam). His name is Muhammad b. Muhammad b. Muhammad b. Aḥmad al-Ghazālī al-ShāfiꜤī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه. Imam al-Ghazālīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  was born in 450 AH in the district of Tus in Khorasan.^[2] Imam al-Ghazālīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  is counted among those noble personalities who devoted their entire lives to acquiring knowledge and preaching the religion.

Imam al-Ghazālīرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه  performed such great tasks for the revival of the religion that he became known as the Mujaddid of his time. Initially, he lived a life of great luxury and lavishness, but later he chose the path of asceticism (zuhd).
