The Remaining Sunnahs and Manners of Sleeping and Waking
1. While falling asleep, stay busy in the remembrance of Allah Almighty and recite Tahlīl, Tasbīḥ, and Taḥmīd (meaning, recite لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللہ, سُبْحٰنَ اللہ, and اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰہِ). Continue this until you fall asleep, as a person will rise on the Day of Judgement in the same state in which they died.
2. Recite this dua after waking up: اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰہِ الَّذِیْۤ اَحْیَانَا بَعْدَ مَآ اَمَا تَنَا وَاِلَیْہِ النُّشُوْرُ.[1] Translation: All praise is for Allah Almighty who gave us life after giving us death, and we are to return to Him.
3. At that time, make a firm intention that you will remain pious and will not trouble anyone.[2]
4. When a boy and a girl reach the age of ten, they should have separate beds. In fact, a boy of this age should not sleep with older boys or men of his own age.[3]
5. When husband and wife sleep on one bed, they should not sleep with a ten-year-old child. When a boy reaches the age of puberty, he is considered a man.[4]
