The beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated:
مَنْ اَحَبَّ سُنَّتِی فَقَدْ اَحَبَّنِی وَمَنْ اَحَبَّنِی كَانَ مَعِیَ فِی الْجَنَّةِ
Whoever loved my Sunnah, he loved me, and whoever loved me will be with me in Paradise.[1]
Sunnahs and etiquettes of applying fragrance
Dear Islamic brothers! Let us attain the privilege of listening to a few Madani Pearls regarding the Sunnahs and etiquettes of applying fragrance.
First, let us listen to 2 blessed sayings of the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم:
(1) He صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: Three things from your world have been made beloved to me: fragrance, women, and the coolness of my eyes has been placed in Salah.[2]
(2) He صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: Four things are included in the Sunnah of the Prophets عَـلَـيْهِمُ السَّلَام: marriage, miswak, modesty, and applying fragrance.[3]
1. The Merciful Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would not reject the gift of fragrance.[4]
2. Applying fragrance for the Friday prayer is mustaḥabb (recommended).[5]
3. In Salah, there is munājāt (private supplication) with the Lord, so adorning oneself and applying perfume for it is mustaḥabb.[6]
