after completing the Fajr prayer, the Greatest Prophet, the King of the progeny of Adam صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, asked: ‘Who is fasting today?’ I did not make the intention for a fast, nor do I have such a plan.’ Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ submitted: ‘O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! I had the intention at night and found myself fasting this morning.’

The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم then asked: ‘Who has visited the sick today?’ We have only just completed the prayer and have not even left the Masjid; how could we have visited the sick?’ Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ submitted: ‘O Prophet of Allah! My brother Sayyiduna ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ is unwell; I first went to his house this morning to enquire about his health and came to the Masjid from there.’

The Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم asked: ‘Who has given charity in the path of Allah today?’ We have been present in your court since performing the Fajr prayer until now; in this situation, how is it possible for us to have given charity?’ Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ submitted: ‘O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! When I reached the Masjid after visiting Sayyiduna ‘Abdur Rahman bin ‘Awf رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, a needy person was asking for help. My grandson (or son) was with me, holding a piece of flatbread; I took it from him and gave it to the needy person.’ Upon hearing this, the Final Prophet of Allah صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said twice to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ: ‘Glad tidings of Paradise be for you.’”[1]

سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه! What a unique morning it is...!! Fajr prayer has just been performed, and Sayyiduna Siddiq-e-Akbarرَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ is already fasting, has visited the sick, and has given charity in the path of Allah. Undoubtedly, Sayyiduna Siddiq-e-Akbar رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُis the one who excels in every matter.

    صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                          صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
