Ba‘d-e-Ramadan ‘Eid hoti hai
Rab ki rahmat mazid hoti hai
Jis ko Aqa ki deed hoti hai
Us pay qurban ‘Eid hoti hai
‘Eid tujh ko mubarak ae sa`im!
Rozah-daron ki ‘Eid hoti hai
Rozah-daron ke wasitay Wallah!
Maghfirat ki nawid hoti hai
‘Eid ke din ‘Umar ye ro ro kar
Bolay nekon ki ‘Eid hoti hai
‘Eid ‘Attar us ki hai jis ko
Khwab mein un ki deed hoti hai[1]
اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه! Just as the month of Ramadan is a month of forgiveness, this blessed day of Eid-ul-Fitr is also a day to gather the mercies of the Merciful Lord. In a narration from the Companion of the Prophet, Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh b. ꜤAbbās رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُما, it is stated:
When the morning of Eid arrives, Allah Almighty sends His sinless angels to all the cities. Those angels descend to the earth, stand at the entrances of all streets and paths, and announce: “O Ummah of Muhammad (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم)! Move towards the court of that Merciful Lord Who grants in abundance and forgives even the greatest sins.”
Then Allah Almighty addresses His servants: “O My servants! Ask! What do you seek? By My Honour and Majesty! Whatever you ask today in this gathering (of Eid prayer) regarding your Hereafter, I will grant it. And whatever you ask regarding the world, I will look at what is best for you. By My Honour! As long as you remain mindful of Me, I
