Shaykh Abū ꜤAbdullāh b. Aḥmad b. Qudāmahرَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said:
Shaykh al-Islam, Sulṭān al-Awliyāˈ, Sayyid ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه strived exceptionally hard to acquire sacred knowledge. He studied under a host of renowned scholars and elders. Much of his time was spent with them.
As a result of this, he became the leading scholar of his age, but not without immense effort and whilst enduring severe difficulties. He detached himself from the worldly matters in the end, devoting all his time to dhikr and calling others to goodness.
He received worldwide acclaim. Due to him, the majesty of Islam became apparent to many, and sacred knowledge became even more highly regarded. Islamic law was implemented widely due to his positive influence.
A profuse number of scholars studied under his tutelage, and he issued khilāfah to many great Islamic scholars.[2]
