4.Another sign of Divine love is to sacrifice your personal desires for the pleasure of Allah Almighty, despite the inclinations of the Nafs.
Imām Muḥammad Ghazālī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه said: The worship of Allah consists of three things: (1) Abiding by the laws of Shar’iah. (2) Being content with the decisions and allocations made by Allah Almighty (3) Sacrificing the desires of your Nafs for the pleasure of Allah.’[1]
Sayyidunā Sarī Saqaṭī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه used to say: My Nafs has desired to eat honey for 40 years, but I have never fulfilled its desire.[2]
