    occasions, and keep in mind the virtues and rewards that will be received in return, as this has always been the way of Allah's pious servants, just as:

    The second Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā ꜤUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ stated: 'When I am afflicted with any calamity, I still receive these four blessings from Allah Almighty at that time: (1) Due to this calamity, I do not fall into sin at that time. (2) No calamity greater than this befalls me at that time. (3) At the time of this calamity, I am content with it, and (4) At the time of this calamity, I hope to be rewarded by it.'[1]

    Besides this, the virtues of patience in calamities, troubles, and illnesses have also been described in hadith. Let us hear two sayings of the Beloved Prophet  عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم to develop a mindset of patience. Thus:

    (1) He عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم stated: 'When Allah Almighty intends good for someone, He afflicts them with a calamity.'[2]

    (2) He عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم stated: 'If a calamity befalls a person's wealth or life, and he conceals it and does not disclose it to people, then Allah Almighty will forgive him.'[3]

    صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

    Trial is Not an Affliction, but a Mercy

    Dear Islamic brothers! We learn that the occurrence of calamities and trials is not a cause of distress, but rather a source of mercy and good fortune. When a person is afflicted with a calamity, Allah Almighty intends good for them. The sins of those afflicted by a calamity are forgiven. Allah Almighty bestows countless blessings upon those undergoing trials. And there is good news for those who conceal their
