    How to Develop a Mindset of Patience in Times of Calamity?

    Dear Islamic brothers! Remember! By complaining, lamenting, and being impatient a calamity does not depart; instead, the immense reward that would have been attained is wasted, which in itself is a very great calamity. Therefore, whether the calamity is great or small, we should firmly hold onto the rope of patience and adopt such methods by means of which we may be rid of impatience, succeed in confronting calamities, and be counted among the fortunate ones who are patient and grateful in adversity. Here are a few methods for cultivating a mindset of patience during calamities. Let us listen to them attentively and make the intention to act upon them:

    8 Ways to Develop a Mindset of Patience During Calamities

    (1) Whenever a calamity or trouble befalls us, we should turn to Allah Almighty with humility and frequently seek repentance and forgiveness. Let alone uttering anything, we should not allow such thoughts like these to enter our hearts: 'I have not harmed anyone, I treat everyone well, so what wrong have I committed that I am being punished?' Instead, we should adopt a humble mindset, consider ourselves sinners in all circumstances, and be grateful to Allah Almighty, acknowledging that if the calamity that has befallen us is a punishment for our sins, then we are being let off very lightly; otherwise, we would be destined for the punishment of Hellfire in the Hereafter and would have nowhere to hide.

    (2) Remembering the oppression and trials experienced by the Beloved Prophet عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم and his blessed Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم also helps develop a mindset of patience in times of calamity. Let us examine a few painful glimpses of how the beloved Prophet عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم and his Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم were tormented.

    When the Beloved Prophet عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم began inviting people towards the worship of Allah Almighty in Makkah, those who were thriving in an atmosphere of polytheism and disbelief found this utterly displeasing,
