the number of sons. Most scholars state that the total number of his pure offspring is 7.

Among them are 4 daughters:

(1) Sayyidah Zaynab

(2) Sayyidah Ruqayyah

(3) Sayyidah Umm Kulthūm and

(4) Sayyidah Fāṭimah al-Zahrāˈ رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَنَّ.

The sons are:

(5) Sayyidunā Qāsim

(6) Sayyidunā ꜤAbdullāh and

(7) Sayyidunā Ibrāhīm رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم.

All the sons of the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم passed away at a young age, while the daughters lived longer. Sayyidah Zaynab, Sayyidah Ruqayyah, and Sayyidah Umm Kulthūm  رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَنَّ passed away during the worldly life of the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. The fourth daughter, Sayyidah Fāṭimah al-Zahrāˈ رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا lived on after the passing of the Noble Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

From the offspring of the first three daughters, the lineage could not continue; it only continued through Sayyidah Fāṭimah al-Zahrā رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا. All the Sayyids in the world today are from the offspring of Sayyidunā Imam Ḥasan and Sayyidunā Imam Ḥusayn رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا.
