Embracing Islam after observing [the acts of] worship and ascetic practices

In the early days of Islam, the first Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā Abū Bakr al-Ṣiddīq   رَضِیَ اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَنْہُ built a masjid in the courtyard of his house, where he   رَضِیَ اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَنْہُ would recite the Holy Quran and offer Salah. Witnessing this faith-inspiring act of his, people used to gather around him. His recitation of the Holy Quran, acts of worship and ascetic practices and crying out of fear of Allah Almighty would stir the people. How the Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم recited the Holy Quran

Mufti Aḥmad Yār Khān NaꜤīmī رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ writes: “Sayyidunā ꜤUthmān b. ꜤAffān   رَضِیَ اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَنْہُ would complete the Quran in one night. Prophet Dāwūd عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم would complete the Zabur in just a few minutes.”[2]

The fourth Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā ꜤAlī b. Abī Ṭālib   رَضِیَ اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَنْہُ would start reciting the Holy Quran when placing one of his feet in the stirrup while mounting a horse and would complete reciting it by the time he would have his other foot in the stirrup and be firmly sat on the saddle of the horse.[3]

What a grand status of Quran’s devotee

Sayyidunā Thābit Bunānī رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ used to complete the entire Quran once daily. He رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ would always observe fasting during the day and worship for the entire night. He رَحْمَۃُ اللہِ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ would offer 2 units of salah (Tahiyyat-ul-
