Satan Mankind’s Enemy
The Shaykh saw through these Satanic tricks and replied, “This is only the mercy and bounty of Allah Almighty.”
When he was later asked how he knew it was Satan attempting to trick him, he explained, “When he said, ‘I have made haram things halal for you’, I knew this was Satan.”
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
This story shows how Satan is an enemy to normal humans, but especially an enemy to Allah’s friends. He tries to trick them with all kinds of traps and deceptions. Even when his tricks are thwarted, he does not become discouraged, as described by the incident we just heard. He tried to trick Shaykh ꜤAbd al-Qādir al-Jīlānī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه by saying haram things had been made halal for the Shaykh; a trick which fell flat on its face.
This also teaches us another lesson. No matter who somebody is; whether pious, poor, rich, a scholar, or even a saint, they must perform the acts of worship Allah Almighty has made obligatory upon them.
Now, who is the highest ranked personality in all of creation? Without doubt, this is our Greatest Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He offered salah in a way nobody else can match. He worshipped Allah Almighty the way nobody else can. Offering tahajjud salah was obligatory upon him; despite the fact Islamic law was subject to his will, he still fulfilled the obligations placed upon him by Allah Almighty.
Dear Islamic brothers! Satan is the clear enemy of mankind, as mentioned in the noble Quran:
اِنَّ الشَّیْطٰنَ کَانَ لِلْاِنْسَانِ عَدُوًّا مُّبِیْنًا (۵۳)
Indeed, the Devil is an open enemy of mankind.
