that man?” They replied, “That is the renowned spiritual guide and leader of Ahl al-Sunnah, Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ.”
This further impressed the young men. After the speech, the Shaykh made a heartfelt dua, during which the youngsters cried and repented of their sins. اَلْـحَمْـدُ لـِلّٰـه! Not only did they become involved in righteous works themselves, they began to invite others towards goodness too.[1]
صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
May Allah Almighty shower His infinite mercy upon Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ and grant him a long, healthy life. This is a display of his wisdom, steadfastness, humbleness, and care for reforming society. He did not retaliate and become angry at their mischief but he responded with wisdom and patience. He showed love and compassion when he faced difficulty and invited them to goodness. He showed the youth of society the path towards piety such that they themselves became preachers who started inviting to good and forbidding evil.
O devotees of the Prophet! Inviting towards goodness with love and compassion, whilst understanding the situation at hand, is very effective. The Quran states:
وَّ ذَکِّرۡ فَاِنَّ الذِّکۡرٰی تَنۡفَعُ الۡمُؤۡمِنِیۡنَ (۵۵)
And give advice (i.e., remind), that giving advice benefits the Muslims.[2]
ꜤAllāmah Maḥmūd Ālūsī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه explains this verse to mean:
